ALBRIGHTON & DISTRICT CIVIC SOCIETY (ADCS)

(Albrighton, Boningale, Donington-with-Boscobel and Tong)

Development East of Shaw Lane
After the dismissal of Jessup’s Appeal we wait to see if there will be any further action.

School Awards Scheme.
The three schools have welcomed this year’s theme: “St Mary’s Church” and we are looking forward to receiving their entries. Our preference is for schools to submit entries by individuals rather than the single item combined entries which we have sometimes seen in the last few years. Submissions may be in any medium including drawings, photos, essays, poems, sketches etc. Awards will be made at our stall at Albrighton Fayre.

Planters
The Society, helped by generous donations from various organisations, had organised and provided the five concrete planters which are in the High Street and over the last few years our volunteers and helpers have restocked them several times a year and have watered them. Albrighton Parish Council has decided not to renew their contract for the provision of the black plastic planters which were in place during the summer months. The Society made a proposal to the parish councils of Albrighton and Donington, which was accepted, and now a local gardening firm is carrying out the maintenance, regular restocking and the watering of all five planters and the cost will be shared between the councils.

Recruitment Drive
We have a substantial membership but we are always looking for more members.
Apart from the subscription which helps to fund our activities, the response of the councils and authorities with whom we engage is influenced if we have a significantly large membership which demonstrates good community support. So even if you can’t volunteer for any of our projects please join to boost our membership numbers.

We invite all to join the Society or to renew their membership.   It helps us to continue our work.............
......to improve the appearance of our villages and the quality of life within them.

Annual subscription is only £1 for a single membership or £2 for the family which will be valid until end September 2020  - a bargain!

Please tear off the slip below

and send your subscription/donation to
